Forensic Services: Innovative Tools and Strategies for Long-Term Missing and Unidentified Cases

In 2001, NCMEC's Missing Children Division created a specialized team to focus efforts on long term missing and unidentified children. As cases continued to age, it was important to stay diligent and proactive applying the latest techniques and resources to find resolution in these challenging cases. The team provides four core functions that includes identifying and coordinating both forensic and field resources, providing analytical support, case strategies, and strategies for how to leverage the media to develop actionable tips.
